This is my first weekend at home in forever and I am beyond excited to have some time to get my house organized! I will start my organizing spree in the office/playroom/husband's dressing room.....this room is a catch all room for anything and everything. Fabric swatches are thrown across the floor, along with Annie's quilt (for tummy time) and stuffed animals, and my husband's clothes...it's a mess. Once I work my magic it's going to look just like Celerie Kemble's home office shown above :). I WISH!! I love the whimsical feel of this room...it just seems to breathe creativity. Maybe one day my home office will look like this, but for now I'll just have to make due with the catch all room it has become.
Whatever your weekend plans may be, I hope you have a great one!

What's Cooking?
I know everyone and their brother has been blogging about Mark Badgley and James Mischika's horse farm in Kentucky featured in the September issue of Elle Decor, but I just couldn't resist posting about Mischika's cookbook library in the kitchen. First off, I am obsessed with this kitchen! I love everything about it...from the Urban Archaeolgy subway tiles, La Cornue range, Rohl sinks, Newport Brass faucets, to the hanging copper and stainless steel pots and pans. BUT my absolute favorite part of the whole kitchen is the "cookbook library" displayed in open shelving above the bar. I love cookbooks and would die to have this amount of storage in my kitchen to display these beautiful books full of yummy recipes. I get my love for cookbooks from my grandmother. She could honestly spend a whole day reading one cookbook cover to cover, and it would be the happiest day of her life. When I first got married, I used to love coming home from work and flipping through all my cookbooks to decide what we'd have for dinner. It was one of my favorite parts of the day. Once I got preggers, cooking just wasn't that much fun anymore. Now that I have little boo, I can't seem to find the time to do anything but throw some chicken on the grill and boil some rice in a bag. My poor husband is ready for me to start flipping through the cookbooks again and get creative with my cooking :)! This got me thinking about what my favorite cookbooks are....check out my top 3 listed below.

Blue
I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's weddings this past weekend. Everything was perfect and the bride looked absolutely beautiful! As you can see from the pic below the bridesmaids dresses were BLUE...I guess you'd call it a cornflower blue. Blue is one of my favorite colors (I go back and forth between blue and green). I love the color blue because there are so many different shades and each shade can provoke a different feel for a room. What is your favorite shade of blue?? I tend to lean towards a more pale blue or green/blue which I find very calming.

Stars and Stripes on The Farm
Interior Designer Ginger Barber created heaven on earth when she decorated this 1850s guesthouse and main house in Round Top, Texas....
The guesthouse sits across the meadow from the main house. It is actually larger than the main house with a couple of bedrooms, kids loft, living room and bathroom.
LOVE the brown and white striped floors and moravian star lantern! Barber used porch stain to get "that on-and-off paint look - imperfect" for the striped floors.
guesthouse bath...how awesome is the zinc top console with white vessel sinks?!
guest house main hallway...once again LOVE the painted checkerboard pattern on the floors.

My all time favorite porch!! You may recognize the pic from my porch swingin' post.
The main house has a master bed & bath, combined kitchen and family room and wraparound porch. Barber boarded every wall in the main house with reclaimed wood and whitewashed the boards. Love the soft, subtle, rustic look!

I'm thinking about ordering this rectangular tablecloth in the elsa brown pattern for my dining room table.
If you love monograms then you have to check out the next 2 sites...
La Plates- www.laplates.com

Annie will be getting a set of these for Christmas.
They have trays too. This would be a great wedding shower gift.
My absolute favorite is Dabney Lee at Home- www.dabneyleeathome.com

Spontaneity
I LOVE Bunny William's room at the 2009 Kips Bay showhouse featured in the August issue of House Beautiful. Bunny used furniture from her BeeLine home collection and threw in a red Egg chair from Design Within Reach. In the article Douglass Brenner asked Bunny, "That red chair throws it off, doesn't it?". She replied, "Somebody asked me why I put it there and I said, 'Because I just felt like it.' The eye is connected to the heart and soul. Rooms should have spontaneity. Nothing quite matches but it blends." I agree with Bunny (I love calling her Bunny like she is my BFF), rooms should have spontaneity. We should all push ourselves to think outside of the lines and not be so by the book when decorating. Here are a few rooms with some spontaneity...
I love how Elizabeth Martin incorporated the hot pink moroccan poufs. So fun!
Elle Decor
In this living room designed by Miles Redd, the orange coffee table and skirted desk really make the room pop!

These yellow chairs brighten up the room.
